DIY bats

Amazing what you can make out of egg cartons.  I made these bats out of recycled material.  I painted blood dripping down from their mouths as they just finished feeding.

To make these scary bats you will need:

  • egg carton
  • paint
  • something sharp to punch a hole with
  • string or rubber band
  • (craft eyes and glue, optional)

What to do:

  1. Separate 3 cups from an egg carton.
  2. Cut out part of the bottoms of the 2 outside cups to resemble bat wings.
  3. Paint the bat. (black)
  4. Add eyes, a mouth, and decorate.
  5. Hang it from a string or a rubber band.

DIY spiders

Yesterday I made spooky eyes with a recycled egg carton.  Today I took the rest of the egg carton and made Halloween spiders with what was left over.  Another great idea for kids and family to do together.

How to make DIY Halloween spiders

You will need:

  • egg carton
  • paint (black)
  • glue
  • 2 small craft eyes ( or you can paint them on)
  • scissors
  • 4 pipe cleaners cut in half

What to do

  1. Separate one cup from an egg carton.
  2. Using a sharp object  make 8 small holes (4 on each side) at the base of the cup.
  3. Paint the cup. ( I used black.)
  4. Insert a pipe cleaner into each of the holes for legs.
  5. Draw a face or glue the small craft eyes on.  You can paint a mouth on as well.

DIY halloween eyes

Find out how I made theses spooky eyes out of an egg carton.  Make your own DIY props for Halloween this year recycling what you already have around the home.  A  perfect activity for kids and the entire family.

How to make Spooky Eyes out of  recycled egg carton:

You will need:

  • egg carton
  • paint
  • scissors
  • glue
  1. Cut horizontally across the egg carton so that you have 2 cups.
  2. Cut the pointy part from inside the lid of the egg carton.
  3. Paint inside the egg carton cups. ( I used black and red as border for  one.)
  4. Using white, paint the eyeballs at the bottom of the cups.
  5. Use red for the eyes and black paint for the pupil right in the center.
  6. Paint the pointy part cut out previously and glue on directly in the middle where wedge is.
